Description

Supplementary public data files are available for researchers to easily access on FSRDC projects. These data are drawn from various sources, including:

Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Consumer Price Index (CPI) - All Urban Consumers (https://www.bls.gov/cpi/)

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is a statistical measure of change, over time, of the prices of goods and services in major expenditure groups--such as food, housing, apparel, transportation, and medical care--typically purchased by urban consumers. Essentially, it compares the cost of a sample market basket of goods and services in a specific month relative to the cost of the same market basket in an earlier reference period. This reference period is designated as the base period.

Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Producer Price Index (https://www.bls.gov/ppi/)

The Producer Price Index Revision-Current Series indexes reflect price movements for the net output of producers organized according to the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). The PC dataset is compatible with a wide assortment of NAICS-based economic time series including productivity, production, employment, wages, and earnings.

Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Import/Export Price Indices (https://www.bls.gov/mxp/)

The International Price Program (IPP) produces Import/Export Price Indexes (MXP) containing data on changes in the prices of nonmilitary goods and services traded between the U.S. and the rest of the world.

Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) National Income and Product Accounts (NIPA) (https://www.bea.gov/products/national-income-and-product-accounts)

BEA's national economic statistics provide a comprehensive view of U.S. production, consumption, investment, exports and imports, and income and saving. These statistics are best known by summary measures such as gross domestic product (GDP), corporate profits, personal income and spending, and personal saving.

BEA price indices include:

Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index (https://www.bea.gov/data/personal-consumption-expenditures-price-index)

The PCE price index, released each month in the Personal Income and Outlays report, reflects changes in the prices of goods and services purchased by consumers in the United States. Quarterly and annual data are included in the GDP release.

GDP Price Deflator (https://www.bea.gov/data/prices-inflation/gdp-price-deflator)
The gross domestic product implicit price deflator, or GDP deflator, measures changes in the prices of goods and services produced in the United States, including those exported to other countries. Prices of imports are excluded.
